“Canmore” belongs to the local Catholic parish of St. James, having been purchased in 1964 by the family of a student and donated to the parish as chaplaincy premises. This means that the small parish of St. James (about 350 Mass-going Catholics) has to try to find all the necessary funds to run the Chaplaincy as a free service for university students. We do this by a ceaseless round of fund-raising and through the very generous support of a number of Donors.
Canmore has, over the last 60 years, served generations of Catholic students and counts an astonishing number of priests and religious people among its alumni. Please think about helping us to continue this valuable work for the good of the young people at this University and also for the good of the Church. Any Donation, no matter how small is welcome.

USA Tax Effective Donations
If you are a citizen of the USA and wish to make a tax-deductible donation to the work of Canmore the Chaplaincy for Catholics at the University of St Andrews, you can now do so easily and effectively.
In 2025, the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh, which owns and operates Canmore, entered into a partnership with the Chapel & York US Foundation to accept donations from the USA for our benefit. This lets us avoid the costs of operating our own dedicated US entity while still allowing you to support the Chaplaincy with tax-effective donations in the USA. Donations are made to the Chapel & York US Foundation, which will then make grants/payments to the Archdiocese.
